All About Baby

Designed for expectant parents, this one-hour class will answer questions regarding breastfeeding, and cover topics, such as newborn care, safe sleep practices and basic nutrition. Classes are taught by a pediatrician and consist of a teaching portion followed Q&A. Expectant moms and partners are encouraged to participate.

Basic Newborn Care

Designed for expectant parents, virtual Basic Newborn Care is presented by a registered nurse lactation consultant and highlights key information about caring for your newborn baby. The class focuses on what to expect while in the hospital through the first month of your baby’s life. Topics include bathing, feeding, diapering, soothing and sleep. Partners are encouraged to participate. The class will also include the opportunity to ask questions.

Care for Your Core and Pelvic Floor

Pregnancy and delivery can cause your body to experience many physical changes, including the development of pelvic floor disorders. Care for Your Core and Pelvic Floor is taught by a physical therapist who specializes in the ways in which pregnancy and delivery affect the pelvic floor. The class will address common issues like back and pelvic pain, diastasis recti, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. Learn what changes to expect, how to prepare for childbirth and how to maximize your recovery after a vaginal birth or cesarean section.

Lista para Dar a Luz

"Lista para Dar a Luz" es una clase en persona de preparación para el parto en South Lake Hospital. Esta clase incluye información sobre ejercicios para preparar a la madre para dar a luz, técnicas de relajación y afrontamiento, opciones de control del dolor, posiciónes de parto, conceptos básicos de inducción y cesárea, recuperación y bienvenida al bebé. Invitamos a las mamas a traer hasta dos personas de apoyo a su clase. La clase se ofrece en una sesión de un día, una vez cada dos meses, los sábados de 10 a.m. a 2:30 p.m., con un receso de 30 minutos para el almuerzo. Esta clase se ofrece en Espanol y se requiere registracion, el costo es $35 dolares

Mom's Morning Out

Mom's Morning Out is a special time for mothers from the South Lake community with babies up to one year of age to get out and meet other new moms. This group is guided by maternal-newborn nurses with lactation specialty certifications. MMO is a laid-back setting that offers weighted feedings, latch troubleshooting tips, infant nutrition, and development recommendations. We welcome you to come for the opportunity to make a new friend for your little one and yourself. Every Wednesday 10AM-Noon. Registration is not required.

Mother Baby T.E.A. – TLC, Education, Answers

Created specially to meet the unique needs of mothers with babies up to three month of age, this group provides education, reassurance and support along with a little T.L.C. in an informal, comfortable setting. Childbirth educators and nurses will answer questions about infant care, breastfeeding, ways to comfort your baby, taking care of yourself and more.

Prenatal Breastfeeding

Designed for expectant parents, this condensed class is presented by a registered nurse lactation consultant. Learn what to expect while breastfeeding your baby during the first few days after delivery and through the first few months. Infants welcome. Partners are encouraged to participate. The class will also include the opportunity to ask questions.

Preparation for Birth Class

This E-class is an eight-chapter, interactive, web-based class that uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, & games to teach all the information parents need to know to prepare for their birth. Understand pregnancy, learn about labor, discover comfort techniques & more. Preparation for Birth includes 90 days of access to our E-learning class titled “Understanding Birth” & email access to our Maternal Education Team.

Ready for Baby

Ready for Baby is an in-person newborn care class at South Lake Hospital. Class includes what to expect during the hospital stay, infant nutrition options, immunization facts and options, developmental milestones, soothing baby, and newborn hygiene: bathing, diapering, skin care. This class is hosted by a maternal-newborn nurse/lactation consultant and pediatric nurse practitioner. There is time for a Q and A session at the end of class. We encourage both parents to attend class. Class is offered on select Tuesdays, 6-7:30PM. Registration is required, $15.

Ready for Birth

Ready for Birth is an in-person prepared childbirth class at South Lake Hospital. The class encompasses information about exercises to prepare mother for giving birth, relaxation and coping techniques, pain control options, labor positioning, induction and c-section basics, recovery, and welcoming baby. We encourage mom to bring up to two support “coaches” to the class. Class is offered in two parts on Tuesday and Thursday, 6-8PM, or as a one-day class on Saturday 10AM-2:30PM. Every other month, this class is offered in Spanish. Registration is required, $35.

Ready for Breastfeeding

Ready for Breastfeeding is a two-hour in-person prenatal breastfeeding class at South Lake Hospital. The class focuses on the benefits of breastfeeding for baby and mom, what to expect when initiating breastfeeding, skin-to-skin holding, positioning, deep latch techniques, pumps and pumping, and basic troubleshooting. We encourage mom to bring up to two support people to the class. Class is offered on Tuesdays or Thursdays, 6-8PM, and Saturdays 10AM-Noon. Registration is required, $5. Scholarships are available.

Todo Sobre Bebe - Clase Virtual

Diseñada para futuros padres, esta clase responderá preguntas sobre la lactancia materna y cubrirá temas como el cuidado del recién nacido, prácticas seguras para dormir y nutrición básica. Las clases son enseñadas por un pediatra y constan de una parte didáctica seguida de una sesión de preguntas y respuestas. Se aconseja a participar a las mujeres embarazadas y a sus parejas.
